Aprender el compás por Bulerías / Patrones / Transiciones / Contratiempos

Demonstration of Bulerías Compás (Rhythm/metre) Welcome once more to the channel my friends, I'm Jaime Estampio Compás por Bulerías (Bulerías Rhythm/metre) Compás por Bulerías is not easy but it's not impossibe. We just need organisation. I'm going to start with 3 tips that will help you grasp the compás First tip look at what I have a super blackboard! First Tip: Patrones (Patterns) How many patterns are there? Depending on the style of the Bulería you have different types of patterns. For example, Jerez pattern: Utrera pattern: What makes it sound like Utrera? It's because the compás is heavier, more grounded Jerez is more up in the air, nimble Another example: Bulerías de Extremadura (otherwise known as Jaleos Extremeños) Anther pattern: A pattern for baile (dance). For the zapateado (tap dancing part of flamenco dance) A pattern for Coletilla. These are the refrains that come at the end of letras (verses): So we have different patterns. I believe we've covered 4 or 5? more or less Let's say we have 4 So when we recognise that we have 4 patterns we are able to detect what pattern is occurring in the music If you understand this If you are able to detect the patterns that occur in the music you are then more capable of introducing variation But first we must know the patterns! wow it's hot! Secondly: we must be able to execute transitions How many transitions are there? There are not so many, but it depends on the Cante (singing) for example: If we're in a "A Golpe" pattern (sorry wrong one, that was 7,8,9,10) A Golpe: TRANSITION (to 7,8,9,10) we then changed to that. We can't change patterns without a system. It's not just a lottery where we can say let's just change here! No This, the compás is about knowing, understanding, and afterwardsto do It's not about playing without rhyme or reason. so you can comprehend and start to grow as a Flamenco So to recap we have: Patrones (patterns) and Transiciones (transitions) What would be another important thing in Bulerías? Contratiempos (offbeats/syncopation) Contratiempos will open your rhythmical and musical mind When you start to work on Contratiempos you start to hear more things It opens up a whole different world You can only enjoy to this degree when you understang the Compás and the rhythm This is not just for people that want to do Compás. This is vital for: Guitarists Percussionists Cantaores (Singers) and especially for Bailaores (dancers) If you have this your life is gonna change!! I really mean it. So lets very clear, if you don't understand the patterns you must stop and study them So lets very clear, if you don't understand the transitions you must stop and study them The Contratiempos will take a lot of practice I remember when I started the Contratiempo was impossible for me! I would say "Where is that?!" "How can this person play that?!" "How can someone play...?!" "How?! Where is it?!" So, there are techniques to start with the Contratiempos there are techniques to start with the transitions there are techniques to start with the patterns and all of that together goes and a magic potion comes out which you drink and your body becomes music because In that moment your world has changed So, familiy as I know a lot of you are asking I've made a special 3 video course it includes the techniques for the Patrones (patterns) very slowly There will be a video with the techniques for the Transiciones (transitions) very slowly too You'll also have a video with Contratiempo (offbeat/syncopation) techniques where to come in, where to come out, and how to understand them This course is prepared, so send me an email and I'll tell you how to obtain it. So for those of you that need it, write me For those of you that don't need it, I hope you liked the video and I'll see you in the next one! Take care adn sending big hugs from Spain We are well, and we persevere. Ole!
